Our Pastor

Pastor Carl T. Carter Jr. (Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) is a native of Council, North Carolina and was born again on February 14th, 1999, at the Free Gospel Church in Bamberg, Germany. The Pastor and Elders of Free Gospel Church licensed and ordained him a Minister of the Gospel in 2000. In 2016 he retired after over 25 years of service in the United States Army. His military duty assignments ranged from Rifleman in a Parachute Infantry Squad to Chief of Intelligence Operations, United States Army Central. His awards and decorations are numerous and include a Legion of Merit and two Bronze Stars for combat operations. His education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics; a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence; and a Master of Pastoral Counseling.
In 2002 the Lord led Pastor Carter to establish a ministry with a focus on man’s relationship with Christ; SACRED ASSEMBLY with a mandate to "Restore Righteous Relationships". In 2003, shortly after deploying to Iraq, he led a small Bible study that eventually became the "Camp Scunion" Gospel Service where he pastored and ministered. Members of that Congregation were the nucleus of Sacred Assembly's first Church congregation in Killeen, Tx in 2004. Currently he leads bi-weekly services are held at 312 S Poplar St Elizabethtown, NC 28337 on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 10am. Pastor Carter continues to build SACRED ASSEMBLY MINISTRIES through nightly prayer calls, weekly virtual Bible Studies, weekly pastoral counseling sessions, weekly virtual Men’s Bible Studies and supporting local churches through preaching, teaching and giving.
